Universal Block

a)proper alignments:
i)height =

Inward blocking arm - fist at eye-brow level

Downward blocking arm - elbow slightly bent during and after execution of block (not "locked out")

ii)width =

Inward Blocking arm - blocking arms extended to opposite shoulder

Downward Blocking arm - blocking arm extended to same shoulder

iii)depth =

Inward Blocking arm - top blocking arm extended to depth of Invisible Box

Downward Blocking arm - blocking arm extended parallel to front knee after execution

iv)execution angle =

Inward Blocking arm - forward at 45 degrees

Downward Blocking arm - palm facing downward (toward leg)

 

b)improper execution:
i)improper angles of execution
1)not executed to match standard blocking angles (see inward and downward block sections)

 

c)improper positioning:
i)not obeying the rule of Margin for Error (also improper alignments):

Inward Blocking arm:

1)not anchoring the elbow
2)not keeping the vertical outward block vertical – i.e. over reaching

Form Specific

a)proper positioning:
i)body positioned / rotated to proper neutral bow dimensions (see Stance Errors section)
ii)feet positioned / rotated to proper neutral bow dimensions (see Stance Errors section)

 

b)improper execution:
i)not rotating body into stance with delivery of block

Comments

i)transition into a forward bow during the execution of the block
