Leaping Crane

This variation is generally considered destructive.

The neck break direction of the technique is reversed. This variation is accomplished by switching which direction the neck break sequence (#5) takes during execution. Instead of extending the elbow directly to deliver the outward heel-palm (#5), a switch is first initiated by moving the hand from on the vertical center-line outside of the shoulder, which effectively changes the heel-palm from outward to inward; and then also reverses the direction of the following neck break. This variation basically comes down to an argument of an emphasis on realism (stylized) over design (idealized).

Rationale For

The rationale for this variation is to be more realistic in execution and more in-line with the execution outside of the form.

Rationale Against

The rationale against this variation is that it demonstrates a purposely hidden maneuver of the form. This maneuver is one of a few maneuvers that are purposely modified from their execution outside the form, and executing it in the altered manner departs from this intent. Secondly, Back Break already executes its neck break in this manner. Changing Leaping Crane's neck break simply replicates the same neck break of Back Breaker.
