Less Common Focal Points

1)

The isolation sequences of Form Five are commonly referred to by a different name.

The isolation sequences of Form Five are often referred to as three-on-line foot maneuvers, due to the defining characteristics of being generally executed in-line with one another and in threes. Although, this nomenclature does not adequately express the three-on-line theme sufficiently and can lead to misinterpretation and/or a misunderstanding of the theme as it is expressed within the form.

2)

The heel-palm strike of Brushing the Storm may be construed as optional.

Depending upon interpretation and execution, the heel-palm strike of Brushing the Storm may be omitted from the form. This option is dependent upon one's understanding, interpretation, and execution of Form Six (Escape from the Storm). If the heel-palm is omitted, either within this form or Form Six (Escape from the Storm), it is typically done purposely, to demonstrate the fact that the practitioner understands that the information is redundant and is not necessary in both forms. This is most commonly demonstrated when the forms are executed back-to-back: but this is not a requirement.

Additionally, removing the heel-palm within this technique negatively affects the three-on-line pattern of Form Five (see Obscure Focal Point #3 for more information on this subject).
