Prance of the Tiger (right side)

Visualization:

The following upper body sequence (1-3) should create a somewhat diagonally-rotated (clockwise vertically and counter-clockwise horizontally), overlapping figure 8, partially circular and partially linear; slightly offset to the right of and in front of the body; diagonally-oriented away from the body (on a right-front-flank to left-rear-flank line).

1)

Direct your attention 45-degrees (clockwise) to your right (toward left-rear-flank) as you rise (toward up) into a left, modified, 45-degree, cat stance facing forward (toward rear) with the execution of a right, thrusting, rising (toward up), back-knuckle to face height in front of the right shoulder region, palm pointing downward (toward down) and knuckles pointing slightly to the right (toward rear), simultaneously with a left, downward, push-down block to lower rib height slightly to the right (toward left-flank) of your (vertical) center-line, parallel to both your body and the ground, palm pointing downward (toward down) and fingers pointing to the right (toward left-flank).

Clarification:

The cat stance of the previous maneuver (1a) is called modified because its alignments are oriented forward, but the attention is offset 45-degrees to the right.

Visualization:

The right arm of the previous maneuver (1a) now begins to travel on the figure 8 pattern.

Elaboration:

Although the following lower body maneuvers (2-3) are explained independently, combined together they create a side chicken kick.

2)

Without any loss of momentum of your right arm, circle (clockwise vertically) your right arm inward, downward, and to your left to deliver a right, hammering, inward and diagonally-downward, outside forearm (toward lower-right-front-flank) to abdomen height, palm pointing diagonally-upward and to the left (toward upper-right-flank) and knuckles point slightly to the left (toward right-rear-flank), with a left, thrusting, 4-finger, poke to eye height in front of the right shoulder area (toward upper-left-rear-flank), palm pointing diagonally-downward (toward lower-left-rear-flank) and fingers pointing diagonally-forward and upward (toward upper-left-rear-flank), simultaneously with a left, thrusting, instep (arch) kick to shin height; on the same line of execution as the left hand, arch pointing diagonally-forward and to the right (toward left-rear-flank).

Visualization:

The right arm of the previous maneuver (2) continues on the figure 8 pattern with the left hand creating the overlapping (and linear) portion of the figure 8 pattern; and the left foot relatively mirroring the line created by the left hand.

3)

Switch the positioning of your feet (hop switch) as you deliver a right, snapping, outward, back-knuckle (toward upper-left-rear-flank) to face height, in-sync with a right, snapping, side kick (toward left-rear-flank) to knee height, as you retract (toward lower-right-front-flank) your left hand to a positional cover at right chest, palm pointing diagonally-forward (toward left-rear-flank) and finger pointing upward (toward up).

Elaboration:

The timing of the previous maneuver (3) should have the left foot be firmly planted on the ground before the potential contact points of both the hand and foot are reached. Also, the head orientation and positioning should not be altered by the foot maneuver.

Visualization:

The right arm and foot of the previous maneuver (3) relatively retrace the linear, overlapping portion of the figure 8; with the foot remaining on a linear line of travel, but the hand returning on an elongated circular path of travel.

Clarification:

The method of execution of the strikes of the previous maneuver (3) are considered snapping due to the fact that their retraction is used in the delivery of the following maneuver sequence.
