Gathering Clouds (right side)

1a)

Direct your attention 90-degrees (counter-clockwise horizontally) to your left (toward left-flank) as you unwind (counter-clockwise horizontally) into a transitory, modified, natural stance facing forward (toward left-flank) with the drop (toward down) of both your open hands in front of their respective sides at hip height, palms pointing inward (left toward font / right toward rear) and fingers pointing downward (toward down), in preparation for the next maneuver.

Clarification:

The natural stance of the previous maneuver (1a) is called modified because of the wide positioning of the feet, the exaggerated bending of the knees, and the slight forward positioning of the arms (in front of the hips instead of being directly to the side).

1b)

Left step to your left (toward rear) and settle (toward down) into a horse, facing forward (toward left-flank), along with a left inward parry (toward left-flank) to lower face height, palm pointing to your right (toward front) and fingers pointing upward (toward up), in-sync with the execution of a right, raking, vertical-inward, middle-knuckle to rib level, with palm (initially) pointing to your left (toward rear) and knuckles pointing forward (toward left-flank); with both upper-body maneuvers concluding on opposite sides of the body, maintaining their stated height and proper orientations.

Elaboration:

The inward parry of the previous maneuver (1b) should be executed on a more linear path of travel, while the middle-knuckle (1b) should be executed on a more (horizontally) circular path of travel; both being executed simultaneously and concluding with the final settle into the horse stance.

Variation:

The middle-knuckle of the previous maneuver (1b) may rebound off the body (elastic recoil) into the delivery of the next maneuver (2a), thus enhancing it.

2a)

Right step forward (toward left-flank) into a right, modified, 45-degree, cat stance facing forward (toward left-flank) with a right, thrusting, horizontal, outward, hand-sword (toward left-front-flank) to upper rib height, palm pointing downward (toward down) and fingers pointing to the left (toward left-rear-flank), while shifting (toward rear) and converting your left hand to a positional cover in front of your left shoulder area, palm pointing to the right (toward front) and fingers pointing upward (toward up), in preparation for the next maneuver.

Clarification:

The cat stance of the previous maneuver (2a) is called modified because the left foot does not rotate (counter-clockwise horizontally) from its previous orientation (toward left-flank) until the following maneuver.

Visualization:

The right hand of the previous maneuver (2a) should conclude its motion with the elbow bent at roughly a 45-degree angle, relatively parallel to the ground, and should not be retracted prior to the next maneuver (thus thrusting method of execution - not elastic recoil [snapping]). To accomplish this the practitioner should envision that this maneuver makes contact and sticks to that contact point, in preparation for the maneuver.

2b)

Right step forward (toward left-flank) into a right neutral bow facing forward (toward left-flank) with a right, thrusting, inward, horizontal, elbow sandwich (with left hand) to face height, left palm pointing to right (toward front) and fingers point forward (toward left-flank).

Visualization:

The execution of the elbow of the previous maneuver (2b) should use the change in stance depth and rotation (into neutral) to allow for the right hand to maintain its same relative spatial positioning (i.e. right hand is pivot point) throughout the maneuver.

Visualization:

The combination of the two previous maneuvers (2a-2b) of the right arm should create a ratcheting effect with the tip of the fingers as the pivot point, rather than a rebounding effect using the elbow as the pivot point.
