Why are some of the best parts of Form Four done Facing backward?

The primary answer to this question is fairly simple and straight forward. This is due to the fact that there was a categorical need to execute an isolation sequence (and self-defense techniques) to a new direction - in this case toward the rear. Because of this requirement, a portion of the form is done facing the rear.

For more information about this categorical need, refer to "Focal Points - Obscure - #6" section of the Long Form Three book in this series and "Focal Points - Common - #8" section within this guide. This can be further supplemented with various other parts of the Long Form Three book and various sections of this guide.
