Defensive Cross (right side)

Visualization:

The following maneuver sequence (1a-3) approximates a large, horizontally rotated, and almost bent in half, vertical figure 8, in front of and relatively perpendicular to your body; starting at your left side (toward right-flank) and ending on your right side (toward left-flank) with the bent middle aligned to your (vertical) center-line.

1a)

Right step reverse (toward front) into a left forward bow facing forward (toward rear) as you simultaneously retract and drop (toward lower-right-front-flank) both of your hands to your lower left hip area as they also rotate (right counter-clockwise / left clockwise - vertically) until both palms point toward each other (right toward left-flank / left toward right-flank) and fingers point downward (toward down).

Visualization:

Both arms of the previous maneuver (1a) start traveling on the figure 8 (clockwise vertically).

1b)

Circle (clockwise vertically) your right arm upward (toward up) and then diagonally-downward (toward lower-front-flank) to deliver a right, hammering, downward, back-knuckle to face height (toward rear), palm pointing upward (toward up) and knuckles pointing forward (toward rear), while maintaining the same relative spatial positioning and orientation of your left hand.

Visualization:

The right arm of the previous maneuver (1b) continues to travel on the figure 8 (clockwise vertically).

Elaboration:

As the previous upper body maneuver (1b) almost concludes, the following upper body maneuver (2) begins, such that the maneuvers slightly overlap in time and both follow the same relative path.

2)

Shift (clockwise horizontally) your stance into a left neutral bow facing forward (toward rear) with the circle (clockwise vertically) of your left arm upward (toward up) and then diagonally-downward (toward lower-rear-flank) to deliver a left, hammering, downward, heel-palm claw to face height, palm pointing forward (toward rear) and fingers pointing upward (toward up), as you simultaneously allow the right hand to continue its same circular path to conclude hanging behind (toward lower-front-flank) at your right side, palm pointing forward (toward rear) and knuckles pointing downward (toward down), in preparation for a following maneuver (4).

Visualization:

The left arm of the previous maneuver (2) resumes travel on the figure 8 (clockwise vertically).

Visualization:

At the end of the previous maneuver (2), direct line of sight for the right hand's next target (4) should be maintained until executed.

3)

Execute a right, thrusting, rising (toward up), instep kick (toward upper-rear) to groin height, toes pointing forward (toward rear), simultaneously with the conversion of your left hand into a positional cover at chest height, palm pointing to your right (toward left flank) and finger pointing upward, as you continue to maintain the same relative position and orientation of your right arm.

Visualization:

The right leg of the previous maneuver (3) starts traveling on the figure 8 (clockwise vertically).

Variation:

The right kick of the previous maneuver (3) may be executed as a ball kick, instead of an instep kick.

Elaboration:

The following maneuver (4) should be timed such that all of the moves conclude their movement at the exact same time (centered mass).

4)

Reverse the circle (counter-clockwise vertically) of your right foot to replant back to its original position (2) as you shift (counter-clockwise) your stance into a left forward bow facing forward (toward rear), along with the execution of a right, thrusting, rising (toward up), back-knuckle to lower chest height, palm pointing downward (toward down) and knuckles pointing forward (toward rear), as you simultaneously rotate (clockwise vertically) and slightly drop (toward down) your left hand, palm pointing downward (toward down) and fingers pointing to the right (toward left-flank), until it collides with the upward momentum of the right hand at the wrist.

Visualization:

The right arm of the previous maneuver (4) travels on the figure 8 (clockwise vertically) in the reverse path from its prior maneuver (1b).

Elaboration:

The collision of your left hand (heel-palm) and right wrist of the previous maneuver (4) should be timed such that they create a sandwiching effect (opposing forces) that concludes the movement of both extremities with a focused impact.

Variation:

The right wrist of the previous maneuver (4) may be bent upward such that the knuckles of the right hand point upward (toward up) instead of forward (toward rear).
