Classical styles where developed long ago, many with a vast number of moves and maneuvers particular to defensive and offensive measures particular to that time and place in history. Because of this, many of the motions of a large number of classical styles would be considered impractical, incomplete, and even faulty by today's standards. This is not to say that they hold no value, just that, for modern defensive purposes, moves should be re-evaluated and analyzed for effectiveness in today's environment. |
