The upward block / middle-knuckle sequence is as follows:
1) | step backward with the left foot into a transitory rear twist stance |
2) | rotate and drop into a left wide kneel with the execution of a left upward block along with the execution of a right downward snapping, raking middle-knuckle strike |
3) | draw the right foot toward the left into a right rear forty five degree cat stance while simultaneously retracting both arms to the left side in a 'cup and saucer' position. |
4) | step backward with the right foot into a right transitory rear twist stance |
5) | rotate and drop into a right wide kneel with the execution of a right upward block along with the execution of a left downward snapping, raking middle-knuckle strike |
The obvious information derived from this sequence is:
•it advances from the transitory (cat) position
•it only utilizes the wide kneel stance (excluding the transitional stances)
•it demonstrates the use of both the front and rear hand simultaneously
•it shows both sides of the sequence (opposites)
•it demonstrates how to lower the height of the stance without leaning / bending
Analyzing this sequence further exposes the following information:
•the sequence uses the power principles of gravitational marriage (middle-knuckle) with (isolated) torque (block)
•the sequence isolates the power principle of gravitational marriage
•the sequence introduces the transitory rear twist stance
•the sequence introduces the wide kneel stance
•the sequence introduces the middle-knuckle strike
•the sequence is executed to the vertical plane
The obvious information derived from the Upward Blocks is:
•the block is defensive
•both blocks use the thrusting Method of Execution
The obvious information derived from the middle-knuckle is:
•the strike is offensive
•the strike demonstrates a new point of contact with the hand (the side of the middle-knuckle)
•the strike introduces the concept of 'nip the tip'
•the strike is a long range weapon - but execute to the short range (because of rear hand without full stance rotation)
•both strikes use the raking (snapping) Method of Execution to a vertical plane
•this is the first demonstration of the middle-knuckle strike in the forms
•the weapon formation is new
The obvious information derived from the transition is:
•the maneuver introduces the rear cat stance
•the transition is 180 degrees
Analyzing this sequence further exposes the following information:
•the maneuver steps back to the same direction from which it transitioned
