Uniform

1)

Distinctive clothing worn by members of a specific group.

2)

Always the same. Unvarying.

Comments:

American Kenpo employs the Japanese kimono style as its traditional uniform, although this tradition has become less of a requirement over the passing years. In its place, American style workout clothing has supplanted it in many normal workout sessions. This leaves the traditional uniform to be a requirement only in formal situations. It is suspected that it is only a matter of time before even this requirement will be abandoned.

On the uniform patches are adorned to further specify style, region, association, and frequently, accomplishments of the practitioner. Although SGM Parker laid out a standard for patch placement (see Infinite Insight Series) it was never really strictly enforced. Instead it was used as more of a guide and suggestion in all reality.
