Although the general history of Short Form Three is fairly well known, but like most of the other forms of American Kenpo, a precise date of its creation has been lost. What is known, though, is that it was created by SGM Parker very early in the developmental stages of American Kenpo (in the mid to late 1950's). It is conjectured and probably true that SGM Parker got ample input and feedback from a number of sources during the form's development. But, unlike other American Kenpo forms, the ideal phase of this form has remained relatively constant since its inception, with few, if any enhancements over the developmental years of American Kenpo.
Unlike some of the other forms of the system, Short Form Three is consistent at when it should be taught - Green belt level. Also, Short Form Three is always taught as the fifth form of the American Kenpo system, immediately after Long Form Two and prior to Long Form Three.
