Timing

grandfather_clock

Timing is the coordination of multiple movements such that they are synchronized as intended. This definition is demonstrated throughout the form in a number of ways:

by timing foot maneuvers with blocks, strikes, and re-positioning

by timing settle in stance with blocks and strikes

by timing rotation in stance with blocks and strikes

by timing minor movements within major movements without adversely effecting the major movement

by timing weapon formation with weapon delivery

by timing the overall execution speed of the form

Each of these timings are intended to coordinate the lower with the upper body in such a way as to create harmonious and fluid maneuvers which complete their travel in-sync with one another. With experience and practice, one can easily discern correctly timed maneuvers from incorrectly timed maneuvers.
