Salutation Variations

The first four forms (Short Form One, Long Form One, Short Form Two, Long Form Two) each start from a horse stance. Therefore, the salutation for each of these forms is generally executed up to the last meditating horse stance, without drawing back to the final attention stance. The form is then executed from that point in the salutation. But, if the practitioner draws back to the final attention stance, thus finishing the full salutation, they may simply step back into a horse stance and continue the execution of the form from that point.

One other common variation is the period of time meditation is performed during the salutation. This length of time can be skipped or can last for as long as a few seconds - but generally not longer, unless needed. This meditation is provided for the practitioner in order for them to become calm and focused in both body and mind. So meditation length will vary by individual.
