Ideal Execution

Written Illustration:

Situation

You are in a (passive) normal stance (facing 12:00H) with both of your hands raised to shoulder height, palms forward (toward 12:00H) (positioned covers) with the opponent (at 12:00H) (facing 6:00H) executing a right thrusting uppercut punch (toward 6:00H) (toward 10:30V) to your lower abdomen area.

1)

Step back with your left foot (toward 6:00H) into a left neutral bow (toward 12:00H) (stable base) with a right horizontal downward forearm block (toward 7:30V), while simultaneously retracting your left arm (toward 6:00H) to your right solar plexus, palm forward (toward 12:00H) (positioned cover).

Result

The opponent’s uppercut should be blocked.

2)

Immediately, shift forward (clockwise H) into a right forward bow (toward 12:00H) with a left thrusting downward (toward 6:00V) heel-palm claw to the opponent’s nose (minor).

Note

The claw should be executed on a circular (clockwise V) path away from you with contact of the heel-palm being made on the far side of the arch and continuing downward until the tips of your fingers reach the bottom of the facial area.

Result

The opponent’s face should be thrust downward (toward 6:00V), with the left hand beginning to raise to cover the face, while the right hand is prevented from moving by your right blocking arm (positioned check).

3)

Without any lose of motion from the previous moves, shift back (counter clockwise H) into a right neutral bow (toward 12:00H) with a right vertical back-knuckle thrust (toward 1:30V) (toward 12:00H) to the opponent’s chin or nose area (major), while simultaneously retracting the left hand back to the right solar plexus, palm forward (toward 12:00H).

Note

The target on the opponent’s face can vary depending upon how much the opponent’s head rebounds from the previous moves.

Result

The opponent’s upper body should be thrust up (toward 1:30V) and back (toward 12:00H), with both hands covering the facial area, and collapse to the ground (toward 6:00V), face up (body on the 12:00H-6:00H line).

4)

Cross out and cover (toward 6:00H).
