Chapter 32 - History of Long Form Two

Although the general history of Long Form Two is fairly well known, a precise history of one important date is not known - the exact creation date of the form. What is known, though, is that it was created by SGM Parker very early in the developmental stages of American Kenpo (in the mid to late 1950's). It is conjectured and probably true that SGM Parker got ample input and feedback from a number of sources during the form's development. Also, SGM Parker incorporated small changes and enhancements to the form over time, but all enhancements stopped by the mid 1960's.

All formal documentation from SGM Parker shows Long Form Two as the fourth form of the American Kenpo system and was created to be a direct follow up to Short Form Two. Long Form Two is typically taught immediately after Short Form Two. Although, there are a few instructors that teach the lower forms (i.e. Short Form One - Long Form Two) in a slightly different order. Typically, they teach Short Form Two immediately after Short Form One, then teach Long Form One, followed by Long Form Two. But, regardless what order the lower forms are taught in, Long Form Two is always taught as the fourth form (i.e. the last of the lower forms). For more information as to why the lower form order is sometimes changed, please refer to the EPAKS Guide to Short Form Two / Long Form One - History section.
