The plus '+' pattern is the most simplistic pattern presented in American Kenpo forms. It contains the most basic opposite elements: front - back and left - right. Put together, these opposites form the plus '+' pattern. Also, this pattern lays out the two (2) major lines and the four (4) major angles for American Kenpo: 12:00 - 6:00 line and 9:00 - 3:00 line. Later forms begin to use the remaining minor lines: 10:30 - 4:30 line and 1:30 - 7:30 line.
