Long Form One introduces:

 

1)

Each of the concepts introduced in the short form are applicable to this form

 

2)

The concept that each form has a predominant (or theme) stance. In this case, the Forward Bow.

 

3)

The following new strikes:

a) straight thrusting punch - which introduces the following:

i) directions from which a punch can be effectively executed:

A) 12:00

B) 10:30

C) 1:30

D) 9:00

E) 3:00

ii) Line of Travel vs Path of Travel

b) back elbow - which introduces the following:

i) Striking with an upper body natural weapon, other than the hand

ii) reversing the line of another maneuver

c) uppercut punch - which introduces the following:

i) no rotation of the hand during the delivery of a punch

The following new blocks:

a) push-down block - which introduces the following:

i) blocking with the tip of the weapon (hand)

ii) opening the hand for defense

The concept of shifting from a Reverse Bow to a specialized Horse. This sets the concepts that the practitioner must learn:

a) new degree of rotation to achieve same effects as shifting from Neutral Bow to Forward Bow

b) to establish a base before executing a strike (elbow)

The concept of stepping forward with a cover step. This sets the concepts that the practitioner must learn:

a) preview of next form - Short Form Two

The concept of an intersection position. This sets the concepts that the practitioner must learn:

a) preview of next form - Short Form Two

The concept of a call out or highlighted maneuver. This sets the concept that specific maneuvers are emphasized within the form to draw attention to the information they present. The call out moves of this form are:

a) 45 degree cat stance with covering block

b) back elbow strike

c) stepping forward with a block

d) isolation

The concept of rotating to a forward bow with out the lower body (legs / feet)

The concept of Isolation maneuvers. This sets the concepts that the practitioner must learn:

a) isolation maneuvers are designed as maneuvers which the practitioner must contemplate on to find their true purpose in the form - i.e. not all information is given to the practitioner about the meaning of these maneuvers

 


 

Long Form One falls into the category of a dictionary form. As such, it maintains the following elements of the dictionary forms.

Each dictionary form changes the foot pattern on the first downward block.

 


 

Short Form One has a number of other elements it teaches:
