In Short Form Two the inward block / hand-sword sequence is as follows:
1) | step forward into a right neutral bow while delivering a hammering, right, inward block to the front while drawing the opposite hand to a positioned check position to the solar plexus area. |
2) | settle into stance with the execution of a right, hammering outward hand-sword to the front |
3) | step through forward into a left neutral bow, repeating the above two steps on the left side |
An analysis of this sequence exposes the following information:
•it utilizes two-in-one timing
•it shows the full degree of closing (block) to opening (hand-sword) the hand
•there is no transitional maneuver between the first and second side
•the block / hand-sword demonstrates full 'degree of' opening the hand
•it introduces realistic positioning of the rear (checking) hand
•positioning in the sequence allows for Economy of Motion for each maneuver
An analysis of this specific maneuver exposes the following information:
•the block is delivered with the side of the weapon (arm)
•the block is executed with right arm first - i.e. the strong side
An analysis of these specific maneuvers exposes the following information:
•the Method of Execution of the block is hammering due to the Point of Origin of the arm during the salutation
•the retraction of the rear arm to a positioned check places the practitioner in 'realistic' position - i.e. the rear hand is used to protect the body
An analysis of this specific maneuver exposes the following information:
•the strike is executed from Point of Origin of the completion of the block
•the strike has a line of sight to its target
•the settle with the hand-sword demonstrates the concept of Body English
•the settle introduces a small degree of Gravitational Marriage into the sequence
