Situation
While standing in a left neutral bow (facing 12:00H) with your left arm covering horizontally across your body at rib height, hand open with fingers pointing to your right (toward 3:00V) and palm facing downward (toward 6:00V); and your right arm covering vertically in front of your right shoulder, hand open with fingers pointing upward (toward 12:00V) and palm facing to your left (toward 9:00H) (aka framing); while the opponent (at 12:00H) (facing 6:00H) delivers a right, straight, thrusting knife attack (toward 6:00H) to your neck or upper body area.
Note
The opponent may drop the knife at any point during the execution of the technique. This should not affect the execution of the technique.
1a)
Pivot (counter clockwise H) into a left front twist stance (facing 12:00H) as you simultaneously execute a right inward parry (toward 7:00H) (palm facing 5:00H - i.e. with the back of your hand) to the inside of opponent's right arm (ending at their left wrist) (toward 5:00H).
Result
The combination of the rotation of your body and the inward parry should safely divert the knife to the left side of your body (Angle of Deflection).
1b)
Immediately deliver a left outward parry (toward 7:00H) with palm facing to your right (toward 5:00H - i.e. again with the back of your hand) to the inside of opponent's right arm (replacing your left hand). Without any loss of motion, step forward (toward 12:00H) with your right foot into a neutral bow (facing 12:00H) with the delivery of a right outward hand-sword strike (toward 12:00H), palm facing downward (toward 7:00V), to opponent's right neck (major) as you simultaneously convert your left parry into a left wrist grab to the inside of the opponent's right wrist, palm facing to your left (toward 11:00H).
Result
The opponent's upper body should be forced backward (toward 12:00H) but prevented from moving very much by the full extension of their right arm, created by the combination of the grab to their right wrist and the outward hand-sword, while their left hand begins to attempt to cover their neck area.
Note
The step of your right foot should end directly between the opponent's legs, emphasizing the depth and force of the hand-sword strike.
2a)
Retract your right hand (toward 7:00H), palm facing downward (toward 6:00V), creating a sliding check along the opponent's right arm with the execution of a right foot sweep (towards 7:00H) with your right foot to the back (toward 12:00H) of opponent's right ankle area, while simultaneously executing a left, thrusting, four-finger poke, palm facing downward (toward 6:00V), to the opponent's eyes (minor).
Note
The sweep should conclude without replanting your foot onto the ground.
Result
The opponent's base should be destabilized from the sweep forcing them to begin to fall forward (toward 6:00H), thus causing the forward momentum of their head to enhance the effectiveness of the poke (Opposing Forces), possibly blinding the opponent. Also, the positioning of your right hand should maintain an effective check to the opponent's right arm, preventing any potential counter attack with the knife. And, the opponent's left hand continues to attempt to cover their neck or eye area.
2b)
Retract (toward 7:00H) your left hand back to it's previous position (replacing your right hand) into a pressing check to the inside of the opponent's right arm, palm forward (toward 12:00H), as you deliver a right, thrusting side kick (towards 12:00H) to inside of opponent’s left knee (toward 6:00H) (major). Immediately, plant your right foot downward (toward 6:00V) into a right fighting horse stance (facing 12:00H) with the execution of a right outward back-knuckle strike (toward 12:00H) to the opponent's right ribcage area (major).
Result
The opponent's left leg should be forced (either by breaking or by buckling) backward (toward 12:00H), further causing their base to be destabilized, while their upper body begins to bend forward (toward 5:00H / 6:00V) in reaction to the back-knuckle, while their left hand begins to attempt to cover their rib area. Also, the positioning of your left hand should maintain an effective check to the opponent's right arm, preventing any potential counter attack with the knife.
3)
Immediately execute a right, upward, flapping elbow strike (toward 12:00V), palm downward (toward 6:00V), under the opponent's chin (minor), while maintaining your pressing check against the inside of the opponent's right arm.
Note
This elbow strike makes contact with the top of the tip of the elbow.
Result
The opponent's forward momentum should be stopped and reversed, forcing their head upward (toward 12:00V), while their left hand begins to attempt to cover their chin area and their right hand is prevented from moving very much by the check with your left hand.
4a)
Step your right foot backward (toward 5:00H) into a left, front, twist stance (facing 11:00H) with the execution of a right outward back-knuckle strike (toward 12:00H) to opponent's right temple area (major), while simultaneously maintaining your left pressing check against the opponent's left arm.
Note
Contact of the back-knuckle strike should be synched with the settle into the twist stance.
Result
The opponent's neck and head should be forced to bend away from you (toward 12:00H), while their left hand begins to attempt to cover their temple area and their right hand is prevented from moving very much by the check with your left hand.
4b)
Unwind (clockwise H) into a left neutral bow (facing 11:00H) as you execute (toward 12:00H / 3:00V) a left, thrusting, inward hammer-fist strike to the back (toward 9:00V) of opponent's right lower jaw, as your right hand retracts (toward 6:00H) into a pressing check against the opponent's right arm (replacing your left hand), palm facing to your left (toward 9:00H).
Note
It may not be possible to make contact with the opponent's right arm with your right hand. If this is the case, convert your right hand into a positional check, at the same height as the opponent's right arm (if possible).
Result
The opponent should begin to collapse forward (toward 6:00V / 3:00H), face down (toward 6:00V).
5)
Without any lose of motion, cross out and cover (toward 4:30H).
