Situation
You are in a (passive) normal stance (facing 12:00H) with both of your hands raised to shoulder height, palms forward (toward 12:00H) (positioned covers) with the opponent (at 12:00H) (facing 6:00H) executing a right, thrusting, step through, front kick (toward 6:00H) to your lower abdomen area.
1a)
Step back with your left foot (toward 6:00H) into a right forward bow (facing 12:00H) (stable base) with a double downward universal block (toward 12:00H) (toward 4:30V), right arm over left with palms down (toward 7:30V), to the top of the opponent's right kicking leg, between the knee and ankle.
Tip
The objective of the block should not be so much as to block the kick, but rather to capture the opponent’s leg between your arms, and control the opponent’s right leg, in preparation for the next move.
Take care to not lean forward with the block, but instead time the block such as to allow the kick to come to your arms as the block finishes.
Result
Your body is taken backward, away from the focal point of the opponent’s kick with the momentum of the kick beginning to be controlled by your arms.
1b)
Without any loss of motion, step back with your right foot (toward 6:00H) into a left forward bow (facing 12:00H) while simultaneously converting your universal block into a cross arm, double hand grab, palms facing each other (left – toward 9:00V / right – toward 3:00V), to the opponent’s right leg, followed immediately by a pull (toward 7:00H) (toward 8:00V) to the opponent’s right leg to your right side (toward 9:00H), in preparation for the next move.
Result
The opponent’s right leg and lower body should be pulled forward (toward 6:00H), forcing the opponent’s left foot to skip forward (toward 6:00H), while also forcing the opponent to use their arms to try and maintain their balance and not fall over, effectively nullifying the use of their arms to retaliate, temporarily.
1c)
Continuing without any loss of motion, circle (clockwise V) your right arm, followed immediately by your left arm forward (toward 12:00V) and down (toward 6:00V) to deliver a right, downward (toward 6:00V), looping back-knuckle, palm up (toward 10:30V), to the opponent’s bridge of nose (major), immediately followed by a left, looping, downward (toward 6:00V) heel-palm claw, palm forward (toward 12:00H), to the opponent’s face(minor), while simultaneously shifting (clockwise H) into a left neutral bow (facing 12:00H) with the retraction of your extended right arm (toward 6:00V) (toward 6:00H) to your right side, palm forward (toward 12:00H).
Note
While the right hand is allowed to continue through its striking surface to a hanging, cocked position at your right side, the left hand remains at the opponent’s face area, in preparation for the next move and as to act as a cover in anticipation to the reaction of the next move. Because of this, don’t be alarmed if the left strike is not as effective as it would have been if it were the only strike being delivered to the opponent’s face.
The above maneuvers should be timed so that your strikes are enhanced by the replanting of the opponent’s right foot to the ground (borrowed force).
Result
The opponent’s forward momentum should be halted with their head being forced to bend downward (toward 6:00V) with their arms beginning to attempt to cover their face area.
2)
Immediately deliver a right, thrusting, front kick (toward 12:00H) to the opponent’s groin (major), while maintaining your other defenses (positional cover).
Result
The opponent’s lower abdomen should be thrust backward (toward 12:00H), causing the opponent’s upper body to bend forward (toward 6:00V) (toward 6:00H), at the waist, with their hands beginning to attempt to cover their groin area.
Note
As the opponent begins to bend forward, allow the opponent’s head to fall below (toward 6:00V) your left hand, thus placing your left heel of palm above the back of the opponent’s head (toward 12:00V).
Tip
During the above maneuvers, don’t allow your left arm to fully extend. Rather, have your left elbow remain anchored (slightly bent) below your left hand, increasing body alignment and bracing angle for the next series of moves.
3)
Retract your right foot in a downward arc (toward 6:00V) (toward 6:00H) into left forward bow (facing 12:00H) with the delivery of a front, right, upward (toward 12:00V) (counter clockwise V), stiff-arm , back-knuckle, palm down (toward 6:00V), to the opponent’s face (major), while simultaneously shifting (toward 6:00V) your left hand onto the back of the opponent’s head, palm down (toward 6:00V) – creating a backstop for the back-knuckle.
Note
The upward back-knuckle effectively reverses the circular path of travel taken from the delivery of the downward back-knuckle.
The above maneuver should be executed using centered mass and timed such as the back-knuckle makes contact with the opponent at the same time as the right foot makes contact with the ground.
Result
The opponent’s forward bend should be halted with their head sandwiched against your left hand by the force of the upward back-knuckle.
4)
Deliver a right outward crescent kick (clockwise V), heel down (toward 6:00V) and bottom of foot forward (toward 12:00H), to the right side of the opponent’s face (major) while simultaneously retracting your right hand (toward 6:00H) to a vertical blocking position at your left solar plexus (positional cover), palm forward (toward 12:00H), but allowing your left hand to remain in place - to control the opponent’s head and also be used as a guide for your kick.
Optional
To prevent the opponent from collapsing to the ground too quickly, you may need to temporarily grab the opponent’s hair, palm down (toward 6:00V), until the kick has time to be delivered.
Result
The opponent’s head and upper body should be forced to rotate (counter clockwise H) to their left (toward 3:00V) and begin to collapse to the ground (toward 6:00V), onto their knees.
5)
Allow your right foot to pass through the striking surface (toward 3:00V) to plant forward (toward 1:30H) to the ground (toward 6:00V) into a transitory right neutral bow (facing 12:00H) while simultaneously retracting your left arm to a vertical blocking position (positional cover), palm forward (toward 12:00H), and maintaining your other defenses (positional cover). Using the recoil (toward 12:00V) of your right foot planting, deliver a right roundhouse kick (toward 10:30H) to the opponent’s sternum (major).
Tip
The roundhouse kick should be delivered using the ball of your foot, instead of your instep, thus matching the hardness of the weapon to the hardness of the target.
Result
The opponent’s upper body should be forced backward (toward 10:30H), continuing to collapse to the ground (toward 6:00V), face up (toward 12:00V).
6)
Without replanting your right foot, cross-out and cover (toward 7:30H).
