1) |
Isolation Sequence 1a of Form Four has additional maneuvers |
|
Although the isolation maneuvers of Form Four continue to expand upon previous isolation sequences (starting with Long Form 1), the final maneuvers of isolation 1a specifically extend upon the maneuvers (most specifically Isolation Sequence #3) and a major theme of Long Form 3. This is in addition to other relationships that may be drawn with the same maneuvers.
Also, as a note: the execution of this final offensive maneuver is done by moving the lower body out of the way of the path of the strikes, not striking around (in front of) the body. |
2) |
The initial block of Darting Leaves is executed to conclude with hand open |
The initial block of Darting Leaves can be varied to be executed with the hand initially closed and concluded with hand open (after focus point). This is an addition to the default way of executing a standard block. |
3) |
The initial maneuvers of Flashing Wings are a departure from the standard technique |
|
The initial maneuvers of Flashing Wings are modified from the standard self-defense execution to demonstrate the following: |
||
i) |
Blocking a potential attack from underneath (in relation to Short and Long Form Two) |
|
ii) |
Breaking the limb of the potential attack with both arms being on the same side of the limb (in relation to Isolation 1) |
4) |
The stances of Destructive Kneel extend upon the concept of alignments with Back-up Mass |
The close-kneel and wide-kneel stances of Destructive Kneel extend upon how back-up mass can be used to properly align the extremities in relation to the body. |
5) |
The figure 8 theme also contains hand / foot relationships - not just upper body maneuvers |
The self-defense techniques Thundering Hammers, Defensive Cross, and Twirling Hammers pick up upper / lower body figure 8 patterns - horizontal (foot) / vertical (hand), vertical (foot) / vertical (hand), and horizontal (foot) / horizontal (hand) respectively. |
6) |
Isolation Sequence 2 of Form Four continues to expand upon a major theme of Long Form Three |
The finger maneuvers of isolation sequence 2 within Form Four continue to expand upon the major theme of lines and circles of Long Form Three. |
