As stated elsewhere in this book, Form Four was originally designed to be the last form of the system. And, as also explained elsewhere within this series, the forms have a designed advancement of both sophistication of basics and the material covered within each of the forms. Form Four was specifically designed to explore the most sophisticated form of aggressions from a single, empty-handed opponent - in-flight (live) major attacks (both singular and multiple).
Without question, this is a large and sophisticated subject matter. And, to represent this information sufficiently within a single form requires a great deal of information conveyance. To meet these design goals, it was necessary to create a form which was considerably longer than any of its predecessors.
