Structure

The standard method of analyzing a form takes a more personal and potentially random approach to information analysis. One may contemplate a specific idea or maneuver and review where and how it is being presented; finding and building relationships and/or categories along the way. This may be done alone, with a colleague, or in a teacher / student environment. They may write their thoughts and/or information down, or just commit it to memory. Regardless, these scenarios are a vast departure in both method and structure from a written situation, such as this guide.

 

Because of this fact, there are both advantages and dis-advantages to a written analysis. One big advantage is that the information is static and permanent, and may be reviewed repeatedly without change. But the dis-advantage is the same set of points; the information is static and cannot answer questions, vary, or expand upon the detail of the information presented. Or even, present it from a different perspective.

 

As such, the information must be more complete, thorough, and presented clearly. This is also an advantage and a dis-advantage. The advantage is that the information has to be more complete, and the dis-advantage is that it may be overwhelming and/or confusing to the reader. Both of these situations could cause the reader to cease any attempt to fully comprehend the presented materials.

 

Furthermore, even if the reader does read the information, they may not understand the intent of the data and/or the complete meaning of what is being presented. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done about this; other than to try and present the information in as clear and concise a manner as possible. But realistically, that is at best a very difficult task.

 

Although, one distinct advantage that a written structure has is that it may give the reader an otherwise overlooked framework from which they may base any personal analysis. Providing a written arrangement and hopefully a mental organizational framework to help one comprehend and internalize the data - and potentially stimulate future analysis. And if not any personal analysis, an understanding of how to think about the information as it relates to the definition of an American Kenpo form and the system as a whole.

 

Given this overview, the reader should not only read and become familiar with the data illustrated within this section, but also be cognizant of the configuration in which this information is organized and exhibited. Being aware of and understanding this deliberate presentation may help one in how they come to think about this information. Hopefully, in a more well-defined, more complete, and potentially clearer manner.
