Intra-Form Analysis

flashing_wings

Intra-form analysis is the most focused and detailed of the analysis sections. It deals entirely with the principles, theories, concepts, and movements of the form itself and how they are connected to each other - within the form. Like the other sections in this book, it follows the order in which the movements are executed within the form (i.e. walk-thru).

If a comprehensive and complete intra-form analysis was performed of Form Four, it would be quite detailed and extensive. Therefore, an effort has been made to balance too much detail against the problem of not including the proper vital information needed to expose the level of information required to adequately study what Form Four is intended to impart to the practitioner.

Because of this, the reader should understand that although this section may appear to be complete and totally comprehensive, it is not. Instead, it was designed to be used in conjunction with the other books in this series to allow the reader to perform their own more complete analysis, if desired. The detail of study in the other books in this series are specifically designed to be used as examples of how to expose the information that was purposely omitted from the analysis conducted within this book.

The material that was excluded from the analysis in this book is data that was decided to be either too detailed, too general, and/or too monotonous when compare to the information included within in this section. Also, it was determined that either the method to extract the information or the information itself was already exposed within the analysis sections of the other books within the series, and therefore, not overly critical to this analysis.

As implied, the overwhelming impetus for filtering information from this section was to create an analysis that was detailed enough, still a viable reference, and yet not mired down in too much detail and/or repetitive data. And, although it may seem as if this section is still lengthy and exhaustive, the reader should understand that a good percentage of the data actually present within the form was left out. Understanding this should give the reader an impression of how much information is actually contained within the forms.

Note #1: Before reviewing the information beyond this point, the reader should be familiar with the information presented in the "Analysis / Perspective" section of this guide - otherwise a major portion of the analysis may not make sense, or seem incorrect.

Note #2: Any terms that one sees and is not familiar throughout the entirety of this analysis section may usually be referenced in "The Encyclopedia of Kenpo" and/or within the Appendices of this and the other books within the series.
