Situation: |
You are in a passive stance (facing forward) with both of your arms in front of your body at chest level (toward up) while the opponent (to your front) facing you (toward rear) executes a right thrusting front kick (toward rear) to your lower abdomen area. |
Elaboration: |
The hands start from a passive stance (i.e. up) to aid in economy of motion of the starting maneuver (1). |
1) |
Step back with your left foot (toward rear) into a right neutral bow facing forward (toward front), while delivering a right parrying downward block (toward front) to the outside of the opponent's right calf area (counter-clockwise vertically) while simultaneously raising (toward up) your left open hand to your right solar plexus area (positioned cover), palm pointing forward (toward front). |
Elaboration: |
The parrying block is intended as a frictional pull to the opponent's leg, thus enhancing (borrowed force) the following maneuver (2b). |
Result: |
The opponent's kick should be blocked to your right (toward right rear flank), thus closing their (vertical) center-line. |
2a) |
Shift forward (toward front) (clockwise horizontally) into a right forward bow facing forward (toward front) while simultaneously rotating (clockwise vertically - until your fingers point toward right flank) and extending your left open hand to pin (pressing check / pinning check) the opponent's right arm against their body. |
Elaboration: |
The pin of the previous maneuver (2a) should be at the elbow area of the opponent's right arm. |
Option: |
You may need to execute a right push-drag forward (toward front) to close any needed distance between you and your opponent (guage). If so, synchronize the previous maneuver (2a) with the following maneuver (2b). |
Result: |
The opponent's right foot should now begin to plant forward (toward right rear flank). |
2b) |
Immediately execute a right hammering inward horizontal elbow (toward front) to the opponent's face. |
Elaboration: |
The previous maneuver (2b) should employ the concept of continuity of motion with the other maneuvers (1-2a). |
Clarification: |
The forward momentum of the elbow strike from the previous maneuver (2b) should avoid passing beyond the flank line. |
Result: |
The forward momenum of the opponent's head and upper body should be halted and forced backward (toward front) and collapse to the ground (on a front to rear line), face up (toward up). |
3) |
Shift backward (toward rear) (counter-clockwise horizontally) into a right neutral bow facing forward (toward front) with the repositioning of both your arms (as needed) to covering positions while continuing to maintain your other defenses (positioned cover). |
