Situation |
You are in a normal stance (facing 12:00H) with both of your arms at your side (toward 6:00V) with the opponent (at 12:00H) (facing 6:00H) executing a right overhead club attack (toward 6:00H), with the right leg forward (toward 6:00H), to your head. |
1a) |
Step your left foot forward (toward 11:00H) into a transitory left neutral bow (facing 12:00H) (stabile base) while simultaneously raising both your right and left arms (toward 11:00V) to execute an upward (toward 1:00H) (toward 10:30V), universal, parrying block (right on top of left) to the bottom of the opponent’s right forearm area. |
Note |
You should try to move as much of your body out of the line of attack as possible (toward 9:00H), without compromising the effectiveness of the block. |
Result |
The forward and downward momentum of the strike should be diverted to your right (toward 9:00H). |
1b) |
Let the downward (toward 6:00V), circular, momentum of the opponent's attack be guided downward (toward 6:00V), by your forearms, while you simultaneously rotate your left forearm (counter-clockwise V) to face you (toward 6:00H) (toward 3:00V), in preparation for the next move. |
Option |
Depending upon the size diffence between the opponent and defender, you may need to shift (counter-clockwise H) your stance into a left reverse bow (facing 12:00H), to properly guide the club past your right side. |
Result |
The opponent's attack should continue to be guided, allowing it to continue past your right hip area. |
1c) |
Convert your block into a left grab to the opponent's right wrist, palm facing you (toward 6:00H), and a righthand grab to the back of the opponent's right hand, palm facing opponent (toward 12:00H). Using the continued motion of the club, but increasing it with your grabs, execute a hammering, forward (toward 12:00H), horizontal (club on a 9:00V-3:00V line), club strike to the opponent's right shin (major). |
Optional |
If shifted into a left reverse bow, simultaneously shift (clockwise H) back into a left neutral bow (facing 12:00H). |
Note |
Your right grab to the opponent's right hand should essentially mirror the opponent's grab to the club, but on top of the opponent's hand. |
Result |
The opponent's upper body should begin to bend forwrd (toward 6:00V) with their left hand attempting to cover their shin area. |
2a) |
Allow the club to pass through the opponent's shin (toward 12:00H), continuing the momentum upward toward 12:00V) while you simultaneously shift forward (toward 12:00H) into a left transitory left forward bow (facing 12:00H). |
Result |
The lifting of the opponent's arm should force the opponent' to continue to bend forward (toward 6:00V), while simultaneously creating a gap for you to execute the next maneuver. |
2b) |
Immediately, step your right foot forward (toward 12:00H) into a transitory right forward bow (facing 12:00H), while passing under the opponent's right raised arm, while simultaneously shifting your right grabbing hand upward (toward 12:00V) from the opponent's hand to the club, while continuing to maintain the left grab to the opponent's right wrist. |
Result |
The continued lifting of the opponent's arm should force the opponent to continue to bend forward (toward 6:00V). |
2c) |
Without any loss of motion, step your left foot forward (toward 10:30H) and to the right of your right foot (toward 3:00H), into a right neutral bow (facing 7:00H), while simultaneously lowering (toward 6:00V) the opponent's right arm with an upward (toward 12:00V) strip of the club from the opponent's right hand. Immediately, settle (toward 6:00V) into your stance with a downward (toward 6:00V) club strike to the back of the opponent's right elbow (major), while maintaining the grab to the opponent's right wrist. |
Result |
The opponent's right elbow should be broken, with the opponent beginning to collapse downward (toward 6:00V) onto their knees (facing 12:00H). |
3) |
Release the grab to the opponent's right wrist, shifting it to your right solar plexus area, palm forward (toward 12:00H), while simultaneously retracting your right arm to a vertical blocking position (continuing to hold the club), as you cross-out and cover (toward 5:00H). |
