The aggressor in a situation can be yourself or your opponent, depending upon who makes the first offensive move. This fact can become an important factor when dealing with the legality of a conflict.
Since one is commonly dealing in Self-defense situations, this term is often used interchangeably with opponent.
In sparring situations, it is just as common for you to be the aggressor, as it is for your opponent. |
