Aggressor

Any person and/or entity in a conflict that makes the initial offensive move - whether in a real life, competitive, analytical, or hypothetical situation.

Comments:

 

The aggressor in a situation can be yourself or your opponent, depending upon who makes the first offensive move. This fact can become an important factor when dealing with the legality of a conflict.

 

Since one is commonly dealing in Self-defense situations, this term is often used interchangeably with opponent.

 

In sparring situations, it is just as common for you to be the aggressor, as it is for your opponent.

Example(s):

 

If the opponent(s) were to be execute an offensive move he/she/they would be the aggressor in this situation. If you were to be the one to execute the first offensive move, you would be the aggressor in this situation.
